Sometimes it hard to separate the noise from the facts. Local Search is no exception. Here are some myths you’ll often hear about Local Search and the truths that should replace them:
Myth: As long as your business is in the Internet Yellow Pages, you’ve got Local Search covered.
Truth: People look for local businesses in many ways and in many places on the web. Strive to be in as many of these places as is practical.
Myth: “We can place you at the top of Google for X dollars per month.”
Truth: Well, they can place you at the top of Google, but it’s accomplished through buying advertising in Google AdWords. If the person you’re talking to doesn’t know this, do not do business with them.
Myth: Local businesses don’t need Search Engine Optimization.
Truth: Local business can benefit greatly from SEO. It helps them to rank well in both the Google Universal results and the Google Maps (Local) results.
